L’année dernière, beaucoup de généalogistes amateurs se sont lancé le défi de découvrir leur sosa 1000. C'est un peu tard, mais pourquoi pas le faire maintenant?
Je n'avais pas originellement mon sosa 1000 dans mon arbre. J'avais mon 500, Pierre HAUTIER, né vers 1768, marié a Marie Anne TRAIN, et ayant pour fils Pierre HAUTIER, né en 1796. Le père de Pierre HAUTIER père serait donc mon sosa 1000.

Pierre HAUTIER fils est né et s'est marié a Les Mathes, en Charente Maritime. En supposant qu'il soit un des premiers enfants nés du couple, il y a des chances pour que Pierre HAUTIER père s'y soit marié dans les quelques années qui précèdent. En cherchant un peu les archives départementales, je trouve le mariage de Pierre HAUTIER et Marianne TRAIN le "23 du premier mois de l'an second de la République", autrement dit le 23 vendemiaire II, le 14/10/1793.
Il s'appelle Pierre AUTHIER dans l'acte, mais ces changements d'orthographe sont courants. AUTHIER va être écrit AUTIER, AUTHIER, HAUTIER, AUTHIERS au cours des années.
Etant en possession de l'acte de mariage qui m'indique par chance la date de naissance de Pierre (29/12/1768), je peux essayer de remonter d'un cran vers mon sosa 1000. Cependant, l'acte semble indiquer que Pierre est né en Charente vers Barbezieux, puis plus loin dans l'acte a Bonnes dans le sud de la Charente. Contrairement a la plupart de mes ancêtres, il s'est déplacé d'une bonne distance entre sa naissance et son mariage. L'acte m'indique aussi le nom de ses parents: Bernard AUTHIER et Catherine AUDINET. Bernard est mon sosa 1000. L'acte le dit cultivateur et mort avant le mariage de Pierre.
Pierre et Bernard venant de Charente, les choses deviennent plus facile. L'AGC a une très bonne base de données et je peux y chercher Pierre et ses parents. En cherchant Pierre AUTIER, je le trouve bien né a la bonne date dans le bon village avec les bons parents. En cherchant AUTHIER X AUDINET, je trouve l'acte de mariage des parents de Bernard AUTIER et Catherine AUDINET a Bonnes le 24/09/1759. La transcription de l'acte par l'AGC m'apprend que Bernard est originaire de Saint-Aulaye en Dordogne. Lui aussi a voyagé.
Les actes en ligne des archives départementales de la Charente sont moins utiles: les années 1744-1759 sont manquantes. Impossible donc de trouver comme ça la date de naissance de Bernard. Direction donc les archives de la Dordogne. Malheureusement, il y a une lacune aussi entre 1709 et 1737 durant laquelle Bernard est très probablement né. Je n'ai pas trouve de Bernard AUTHIER entre 1737 et 1740 (avec la majorité a 21 ans, il aurait du se marier en 1738 ou avant).
Donc voila. Avec une impasse en Dordogne, mon sosa 1000 est Bernard AUTHIER originaire de St-Aulaye en Dordogne, marie le 24/09/1759 a Bonnes en Charente a Catherine AUDINET. Ils ont eu plusieurs enfants: Pierre (1760), Pierre (1762), Antoine (1763), Francois (1766), et Pierre (29/12/1768) dont je descends:

Last year, many amateur genealogists took on the challenge of finding their Sosa ancestor number 1000. It is a little late, but why not do it now?
I did not originally have my Sosa 1000 in my tree. I had my Sosa 500, Pierre HAUTIER, born around 1768, married to Marie Anne TRAIN, and father of Pierre HAUTIER born in 1796. Pierre HAUTIER senior's father would therefore be my Sosa 1000.

However, the record seems to indicate that Pierre was born in Charente near Barbezieux, and then further in the record in Bonnes in southern Charente. Unlike most of my ancestors, he moved a considerable distance between his birth and his marriage. The record also gives me his parents' names: Bernard AUTHIER and Catherine AUDINET. Bernard is my Sosa 1000. The record describes him as a farmer, already deceased at the time of Pierre's marriage.
With Pierre and Bernard coming from Charente, things become easier. The AGC has an excellent database and I can search for Pierre and his parents there. Searching for Pierre AUTIER, I find him born on the right date in the right village with the right parents. Searching for AUTHIER × AUDINET, I find the marriage of Bernard AUTIER and Catherine AUDINET at Bonnes on 24/09/1759. The AGC's transcription tells me that Bernard was originally from Saint-Aulaye in the Dordogne. He too had travelled.
The online archives of the Charente departmental archives are less useful: the years 1744–1759 are missing. It is therefore impossible to find Bernard's date of birth that way. On to the Dordogne archives — but there too there is a gap between 1709 and 1737, during which Bernard was very probably born. I found no Bernard AUTHIER between 1737 and 1740 (with majority at 21 he should have married in 1738 or before).
